I serve in a ministry at Lifechurch.tv called, "The Loop". This is an experience room within Life Kids for 5th and 6th graders. A lot of our ministry is focused first on leading the kids to become fully devoted followers of Christ and second, to prepare for the transition into SWITCH which is our youth program.
The Loop is very strategically designed for this specific age group. The order of our experience, small groups, and worship are set up as tools for volunteers to reach these kids with the message of Christ. In our leader training we learn the psychology of this age group as well as the importance of consistency. For a lot of these kids in South Oklahoma City, we are virtually the closest to a parent figure they might have in their lives right now. Since 5th grade is a major drop off point in the church, we are trained to pick a service, pick a group, pick a friend, and stick to it.
I have volunteered in the Loop for close to two years now. My role is called a council member. I work closely with one of the Switch pastors, Dedra, and two other council members, Mike and Drue. Mainly, I am responsible for delegating various responsibilities to our leaders. About once a month I deliver a closing message and prayer to each service. (We have 5 services in the Loop per weekend.) I also make sure my services run smooth as a baby's bottom.
I am in love with this ministry, and I'm confident that any of my students would agree with that. I am a firm believer that if your kid is happy at church, then you will come back. I also believe in the power of kid to parent ministry. If something sparks spiritually inside of a child, mom and dad will find out about it and become open in their own hearts, too.
I also love watching as families grow closer to God together within Life Kids. I can't wait to have babies and experience that too!
Great stuff girl! The impact you're making on God's Kingdom cannot be measured by just the number of kids who give their life to Christ in The Loop. The ripples of impact your leadership makes, spread to all aspects of their life! Thanks for your service!
